Kevin Robles

Biography

Kevin Alexander Robles (b. 2002) is a rising Hispanic composer and percussionist from Baker, FL.  A graduate of Troy University, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Industry with a minor in Fine and Performing Arts. Throughout his academic journey, Kevin has cultivated a diverse compositional style, with particular preference in large ensembles, chamber music, and percussion. Since embarking on his composition career in 2020, Kevin has earned recognition as a finalist in various composition competitions, including the 2022 Young Composers Competition hosted by the Alabama Music Educators Association (AMEA). Kevin’s compositions have been published by respected publishers such as Tapspace Publications, Wildlight Publications, C. Alan Publications, and his own company, Kevin Robles Music Company. His works span a variety of genres and settings, from intimate chamber groups to large-scale wind and orchestra ensembles.

As a performer, he has had the privilege of playing with several professional ensembles, including the Troy University Symphony Band and the PASIC award-winning Troy University Percussion Ensemble. Kevin’s chamber and solo repertoire features pieces by Gordon Stout, Kevin Bobo, Michael Calamas, Steve Reich, and others, further showcasing his versatility as both a performer and a composer.

Kevin’s composition training includes guidance from notable mentors such as Dr. Traci Mendel, Mr. Robert W. Smith, Mr. Tyler Arcari, and Mr. Robert Clayson. He draws inspiration from a wide range of composers, including John Williams, Dmitri Shostakovich, Julie Giroux, Jerry Goldsmith, Eric Whitacre, John Mackey, and many others.

In the Fall of 2024, Kevin had the invaluable opportunity to complete an internship in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was mentored by industry professionals including David Shipps, Kris Crunk, Paul Nelson, and Sammy Sanfilippo. This experience provided Kevin with in-depth knowledge of MIDI programming, music preparation, and orchestration/arranging, further expanding his skill set and deepening his understanding of the music industry.

A dedicated member of the music community, Kevin is affiliated with several professional organizations, including the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), the Percussive Arts Society (PAS), and Phi Boota roota, the National Percussion Fraternity. With his passion for composition, performance, the industry, and music education, Kevin continues to build a promising career, steadily gaining recognition for his work, passion, and creativity.
