COmposition
It all begins with an idea.
BACKGROUND
Kevin Robles Music Co. started with composition. Before anything else, I began composing in December of 2020. It sparked something within me that I had never felt before, and from that moment on I began chasing this path. In just four short years, and under the guidance of Dr. Traci Mendel, Mr. Robert W. Smith, Mr. Tyler Arcari, and Mr. Robert Clayson, I have been fortunate enough to experience some incredible moments in composition. Feel free to view them below.

Percussion writing is the art of creating music specifically for percussion instruments, balancing technical challenges, timbral variety, and rhythmic complexity. It involves understanding the unique qualities of each instrument and how they interact. As a percussionist, I can help you create engaging, rhythmically compelling pieces that highlight the full range of percussive sound. By tailoring the writing to the skill level of the performers, I ensure the music is both technically accessible and artistically impactful.

Writing for large ensembles is all about bringing together different instruments in a way that creates a balanced, cohesive sound. It’s not just about writing cool parts—it’s about knowing how each section, like strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion, work together and support each other. As someone who’s spent a lot of time composing and listening to larger groups, I can help you craft pieces that really make the most of your ensemble. I’ll also make sure the music is tailored to your groups need, so that it’s both challenging and fun to play, while still giving the audience something memorable to hear.

Writing for chamber is all about finding that perfect balance between individuals and the group as a whole. Each instrument has a unique role, and it’s about creating music that allows each voice to stand out while still blending in with the others. With experience composing for small groups, I can help you create pieces that make the most of the intimate setting, giving each player something meaningful to contribute. I have worked with all sorts of combinations and am willing to take on any challenge.
