Havoc - Orchestra
Havoc is a bold, cinematic, and fiercely entertaining work. It embodies explosive moments, rapid shifts, destruction, and the thrill of adventure. I set out to compose something that fully captured those qualities, something energetic and alive. At Troy University, the word Havoc carries deep significance, particularly within the School of Music. It symbolizes spirit, intensity, and drive, qualities I aimed to channel into every measure of this piece. This work was composed in 2024 with a specific conductor in mind: the phenomenal educator and musician, De’Shun Iverson. It was written not only to challenge and inspire, but also to honor the passion and leadership he brought to our community. I had the privilege of working alongside De’Shun as one of his music librarians. In that time, he became one of the most impactful graduate assistants Troy has ever known. His mentorship left a lasting impression on me, and on so many others. Thank you, De’Shun, for sharing your knowledge, your artistry, and your heart with us. Wishing you continued success on your next musical journey.
